The DNA – Can Darwin Explain?

My dear friends who believe there is no God/Creator and that there is no evidence to a Creator God, DNA would be a good place for you to start looking at. I was reading an article on Y-Origins.com (one of my favourite sites). They’ve written a detailed article on the same. They’ve included some quotes from renowned scientists, biologists, and mathematicians. Looks like the scientific community is stumped and is slowly moving away from the theory of evolution that our old friend Darwin proposed.

Here are some quotes from scientists (Who are not Christians and are mostly atheists)

Theoretical physicist Paul Davies affirms in The 5th Miracle,

The peculiarity of biological complexity makes genes seem almost like impossible objects. …

I have come to the conclusion that no familiar law of nature could produce such a structure from incoherent chemicals with the inevitability that some scientists assert.

DNA’s co-discoverer Francis Crick also considers DNA to be too complex to have arisen in a warm pond on early Earth. This highly regarded Nobel Prize–winning biologist concludes,

 An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to almost be a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going.

Antony Flew, recognized by many as the world’s leading atheist for the past fifty years, made front page news when he renounced his atheism, remarking,

I think the argument to Intelligent Design is enormously stronger than it was when I first met it…It now seems to me that the finding of more than fifty years of DNA research have provided materials for a new and enormously powerful argument to design

The Pale Blue Dot

I happened to read an article about the “pale blue dot”.  The pale blue dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by Voyager 1 from a record distance, showing it against the vastness of space. In 2001, this photograph was selected as one of the top ten photos by space.com. The idea of the photograph and it’s title came from the scientist, Carl Sagan, who later wrote a book on the same topic. The photo is a grainy photo showing earth as a small dot, smaller than the size of a pixel. The small dot is seen to be found falling inside the path of sun’s beam.

Seen from 6 billion kilometres (3.7 billion miles), Earth appears as a tiny dot.

Truly a materpiece photo. But what strikes me more is the beauty of the space, it’s sheer vastness, it’s magnificance, the awesome work of the Creator. The photo also reminds us of how small our planet is when compared to the size of the outer space. Small pale blue dot, and we are somewhere in that pale blue dot. It’s just amazing and humbling to know how small we really are, and yet, our Creator, the God who created the heaven and the earth is mindful of us. It just reminds me of His majesty and glory and the volume of His immeasurable love. How much He should have loved us that He sent His only son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for the tiny humans living on the pale blue dot? I can do nothing but praise Him for all His love and compassion for me, a tiny speck on the pale blue planet.

Why did God create Man?

I used to wonder why God created mankind. What made Him create all of us? Was it necessary at all? We face so much of trouble and we trouble Him so much in turn… always crying and pleading Him to help us/ bless us. Why did He want to take all of this trouble? I wondered how pissed of He must be with all our weird behaviors and funny feelings. If He had wanted, He could have chosen not to create us. He could have lived in peace. Yet He chose to create us. Why????

Well this question remained unanswered for quite some time. I constantly kept asking my mom as to why God created us. Every time I asked her, she would smile and that made me think that even she was confused as I was. One day, my mom gave me the answer to this puzzling question and I believe it was God who gave her the answer. She said, “God created us so that He could have relationship with us”.  She said, “He did not want to be alone and thus created mankind to have friendship with him. But man, rejected the friendship that He offered and chose his own way. God still wants to be our friend.”

How amazing is that? The all Powerful, the all Mighty God, the One who created the whole universe wants to have friendship with us. Isn’t that beautiful? But we, in the hardness of our hearts fail to acknowledge that friendship. Even today God wants to have relationship with us. He wants to be our friend. Now the question is, are we ready to accept His friendship?
